Do not boil it dry, keep the spout pointed away from you when pouring, take care with the lid and the whistle after boiling as both get hot, and let it cool before cleaning. Descale periodically in hard water areas.

Does the handle get hot?
The handle is heat resistant, but the lid, the spout and the whistle all get genuinely hot. Use a cloth when you open it and keep it back from the hob edge.
What if I forget it on the hob?
Never let it boil dry. A stovetop kettle has no cut off, which is precisely why the whistle matters, and why it should not be left on an unattended hob.
How do I descale it?
Fill it with a diluted white vinegar solution, bring it to a boil, leave it to stand and rinse thoroughly. In a hard water area do it every couple of months.
