Description
The Sandlight Quicksand Table Lamp holds fine sand behind glass and lets it fall slowly through the lit chamber, so the lamp is never quite the same twice. Turn it over and the process restarts. It is the rare decorative object that gives you something to watch rather than simply something to look at.
Backlighting catches each grain as it falls, which produces a shifting texture of light on the surrounding surface. On a desk it works as a small, absorbing distraction during a phone call; on a shelf it draws the eye without needing to be bright. Velleora Home Decor sealed the chamber fully, so nothing needs topping up or maintaining.
The light itself is warm and low, intended as an accent rather than a source you would read by. It runs on USB power, so it can sit on a desk beside a laptop without another plug. Keep it on a level surface so the sand falls evenly, and clean the glass with a soft dry cloth rather than a spray.
- Sealed falling-sand chamber, invert to reset
- Backlit to catch each grain in motion
- Warm low accent light, not a task lamp
- USB powered, no maintenance or refilling
- Best on a level surface for even fall

Sand Falling Behind Glass
Fine sand drifts down through a sealed chamber while the backlight glows behind it, so the lamp changes slowly all the time it is on.
Turn It To Reset
Inverting it starts the whole thing again, and the pattern the sand forms is different every single time.
Runs From Any USB
A phone charger, a laptop or a power bank all run it, so it works on a desk, a shelf or a bedside without a mains socket.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the sand take to fall?
Long enough to watch and then forget about, typically many minutes. It needs a level surface for the fall to run evenly.
Does it need refilling?
No. The chamber is sealed, so the sand simply cycles each time you turn it over. Do not attempt to open it.
How bright is it?
It is a low warm accent light rather than a reading lamp, and the effect reads best in a dim room.
Why is the sand not falling evenly?
Almost always because it is not sitting level. Adjust the surface or the position and the flow evens out.
How do I clean it?
A soft dry cloth over the glass face and the frame. Never open the chamber or let water reach the base.
