The seat is woven from a soft, breathable fabric with a spreader bar at the top that holds the opening wide so it is easy to get into, rather than closing around you like a bag. A steel ring and swivel take the suspension, so the chair can turn without twisting the cords, and the gathered head is bound and stitched through several times to spread the load. It hangs indoors from a joist, outdoors from a branch or a beam, or from a purpose-made stand.
Fix the hardware into a structural joist or beam - never plasterboard alone - and have any ceiling fixing checked by someone competent. Hang the seat low enough that a slip is a short drop, keep the swing area clear of hard furniture and glass, stay within the stated weight limit, and check the cords and fittings before each use. Children should be supervised.
