Description
This Chess Set from Velleora Home Decor uses a hinged wooden board that folds closed around the pieces, so the board is also the box - there is no separate bag to lose and no pieces rattling loose in a drawer.
That format is why folding sets have outlasted every other design. The set stores flat on a shelf, travels intact, and a missing bishop is immediately obvious when the board is opened rather than discovered mid-game.
The pieces are turned timber with weighted bases, which is the difference between a set that plays properly and one where pieces topple every time the board is nudged. Felt bases protect the board surface. Wipe with a barely damp cloth rather than soaking, keep it out of direct sunlight and damp, and check the clasp is closed before carrying it. Small pieces - keep away from young children.

The Board Is The Box
The board hinges closed around the pieces, so the board is the box. There is no separate bag to lose and no pieces in a drawer.
Weighted, Felted Bases
Turned timber pieces with weighted bases and felt underneath. They sit where you put them and they do not mark the board.
It Folds And Travels
Folded, it stores flat and travels intact, which is why a set like this ends up going on holiday rather than staying on a shelf.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do the pieces go?
Inside the board itself. It hinges closed around them, so there is nothing separate to keep track of.
What are the pieces made from?
Turned timber, with weighted bases so they have some heft and stay put when the board is nudged.
Why do the bases matter?
Weight keeps a piece standing, and the felt underneath stops it marking the board. Both are what separate a real set from a cheap one.
Is it good for travelling?
Yes. It folds flat with everything inside and survives a bag, which is why it tends to be the set that actually gets used.
How do I look after it?
Wipe it with a barely damp cloth, never soak it, and keep it out of direct sunlight and damp. The pieces are small, so keep it away from young children.
