That is a real safety difference. A traditional top-cutting opener leaves a jagged edge on both halves, which is one of the more common ways people cut themselves in a kitchen, and it means the lid cannot be safely pushed down to drain a tin.
Three colour options are offered. The stainless body does not rust the way a coated opener does once the coating chips, and the geared handle turns smoothly rather than needing to be forced. A bottle opener is built into the handle. Wash by hand and dry it fully, particularly around the cutting wheel, and keep the mechanism free of food residue so it continues to turn cleanly.
