The Spiral LED Ceiling Light winds its emitting strip into a flat coil, so the lit surface is a continuous line rather than a filled disc. From below the fixture reads as a drawn spiral, which holds the eye in a way a plain lit circle does not.
Because the light comes from a long thin line rather than a broad panel, shadows in the room stay soft and the fixture itself is comfortable to look at directly. A concentrated panel of the same output would be considerably harsher.
