Description
The Winter Snowfall Lamp projects drifting points of light across a wall or ceiling so the surface appears to have snow falling down it. Movement is the whole effect: a static projection reads as a pattern, while slow drift reads as weather.
It works best in a room that is otherwise dark, aimed at a large plain surface. Closer to the wall the flakes are small and dense; further back they spread and soften. Most people settle a metre or two out.
Through the long dark end of the year it turns an ordinary evening room into something else without any decorating. Velleora Home Decor kept the base small enough for a shelf. Do not look directly into the lens, keep it out of reach of small children, and wipe the housing with a dry cloth.

The drift is slow and even rather than a few dots moving fast, which is what makes a room feel like it is snowing rather than lit by a gadget.
Distance Sets The Flakes
Closer to the wall gives small dense flakes, further back gives large sparse ones. Sliding it along a shelf is the whole adjustment.

How far should it sit from the wall?
Start a couple of metres back and move it until the flake size looks right. There is no correct distance, only the one that suits your room.
Does it work on a ceiling?
Yes, angled upwards it covers a ceiling well, which works particularly nicely over a bed. A plain pale surface always gives the strongest result.
Is it safe to look at?
Do not look directly into the lens, and point it away from where people sit facing it. That applies to any projector, and it is worth mentioning to children in the room.
Is it noisy?
There is a very faint sound from the moving mechanism, quiet enough to leave running in a bedroom without it becoming the thing you notice.
Is it only for winter?
Most people bring it out in the colder months, though plenty leave it running year round in a bedroom simply because the slow movement is calming to fall asleep to.
