It is machined from aluminium, powder-coated black, and sealed to IP65 - rated against dust and against water jetted from any direction, which covers driven rain and a hosed driveway. Aluminium was chosen for a reason beyond looks: it draws heat away from the LED module, and heat is what shortens the life of an outdoor light. Toughened glass covers the aperture, and the integrated LED runs for tens of thousands of hours without a lamp change.

Use a pair either side of a front door, a run along a garden wall, or single fittings up a flight of external steps. It also works indoors as a feature wash in a living room or hallway. Mount it with the fixings supplied at a height that lights the ground rather than a neighbour's window, and have it wired in by a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated.
